I think I have a fear of something, thinking fear of failure because I've had a lot of that in my life. Then I have someone close saying I can't make it as a writer. She's never been very supportive, but to hear her say that not too long ago hurt.

I so get this. First of all, it's hard to ignore people who aren't supportive when they are close... but 99% of the time someone saying you can't make it is projecting their own beliefs. Ultimately "winning" is half mindset... maybe even more. So believe you can win... at whatever you put your mind to! I know you can :)

I'm currently prioritizing my health. I delayed for years because of Tech Guy's medical debt. I could wait. I kept putting things off in 2025 because I'd "do it after this book is done." Then a new project surprised me, so I went "I'll get this done fast and then get to it."

Well, July 24th, my body said No. Not waiting anymore. I've started the whole doctor merry-go-round. The WIP I thought I was finishing in July is close, but not quite done, in August.

Hoping the doctor has the test results when I go back tomorrow morning. The not knowing has been driving me nuts.

I am so sorry Carla. The back and forth with different doctors is so nerve wracking. If there's anyway I can help, please let me know. Putting your health first is, of course, the right move... but I know it's also tough when you have life, family, and of course writing projects that are far more enticing! You are going to rock this... and I'm wishing you a speedy return to more sustainable health.

Thanks. Got my results and going for blood work this afternoon.

It's a diagnosis I can treat naturally, but it'll be easier if I'm making more money.

Since Amazon changed the algorithm in March, promos I'm in haven't gotten nearly the same downloads as before.

Unfortunately with health care in America... it's always easier with more money even though it shouldn't be. I'm glad to at least here you can treat it naturally. That sounds like positive news!

It's not the healthcare costs this time. It's diet and exercise. I'll need to be eating how no one else in the house eats. I need new shoes (mine are old). Specific supplements. Et cetera.

I understand. At least, this sounds semi-manageable!

Well, only if Tech Guy helps. Discussions haven't been super helpful so far.

I put off taking care of myself because of his medical debt accumulated in 2022, so it'd be nice for it to be my turn now, but I've already met resistance even though I'm not making a big ask.

Meanwhile, my author biz just won't grow.
